    I’m new here.

When I got on this forum, I started typing up a storm about how alone and depressed I am. I really just started ranting about my whole life story, even going past the word limit. But I realised that I’m sure a lot of you have heard it all before. So, I'll just start with the heart of the matter,

    I’m very very afraid.

I'm afraid of where my life is heading.

    I'm afraid of dying alone

I'm afraid that I will never know the happiness and joy of loving someone and being loved.

I'm afraid that I will never experience the happiness and memories of real friendships

I'm 21 years old. I have no real friends. Despite really trying to seek out new relationships, I feel that I can never solidify anything meaningful. I don't know what to do, or where to go, or who to talk to. I've never had any social safety net in my life, and I really don't think I can handle it much longer...

    Hello Tanop

It is so great to have you as part of the forum and please, there are no rules here with regards to "heard it all before", if you would like to go into detail, please do, we are here to support you and to give you some comfort at this time in your life when I can hear you are feeling so very alone and so scared and just want a friend, you are not alone and we are here for you.

At 21 years old, you are still so young and do have your whole life ahead of you, I know this doesn't help now with the feeling of being so alone but I am wondering if you have some interests or hobbies that would see you be apart of some social groups that you could meet some new people with similar interests as you.

It is so very hard with being a young adult these days and there are so many expectations on life, "should" be doing this and "should" be doing that...what career and how much money and am I going to be successful...so much to think about. Seeing that you are young there is an amazing service called Kids Helpine on 1800 55 1800, it aims at supporting people under 25. They are so wonderful and it would be great to give them a call and to see how they can support you also. They are professionals and have some tools to manage these sorts of things.

We are here to talk and to support you through this Tanop so please share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with.

It is so very brave of you to reach out for support and I hope I have been able to help today.

Hugs to you Tanop and hope to chat soon

    AS

    Hey there!

    I'm new here too :)

And I feel this way every now and then. I don't know the extent to which you feel this way but I hope what I say might help? I'm not that great at giving advice so I'm sorry if I don't help.

I think that personally it is helpful to clear your head through mindfulness before going into spirals which may make you feel really bad. Then once you do that, realise that these thoughts aren't true. One day soon enough you will find people around you that are so much more like you. It's hard I know because I go through this but always stay hopeful because you will find people to surround yourself with.

And for now here are some tips:

    - Try meeting new people online that you can get to know. It can actually quite easy to meet people online i find.

    - Plan out some days to make you feel less lonely, like going on walks or going out to eat

    - There is nothing for you to lose by reaching out to new people. Ask people you've talked to just once in your life even to go out. Because after you do this once you can do it again. And even if this doesn't work out nothing bad can come from it.

I hope that helps. I'm not usually that great with the advice but I thought I could try and help out here since I sort of know what you're going through. And trust me, all good things and all bad things must pass eventually. You are only 21. Take your time because this is all part of life. You'll get there trust me on this one :)
