One in five young people are extremely concerned or very concerned about depression, according to a new Mission Australia report.
The survey of 21,846 young people (aged 15-19 years), revealed that the top three issues of concern for young people, particularly for females, were coping with stress, school or study problems, and body image. These were the same top issues of concern in previous years.
This year, a slightly larger proportion of youth were extremely concerned or very concerned about depression and around one in 10 highlighted that suicide was a concern for them.
