Young people are invited to contribute to their community by cleaning local parks, beaches, bushland and streets on Clean Up Australia Day (Sunday 6 March 2016).

The organisers of this special day, which is now in its 26 year, aim to inspire Australians to protect and care for their environment.

People of all ages can get involved by volunteering to clean at a registered site, which are listed online. Keen cleaners can also register a new site, such as a university campus or local park, and encourage mates, family members and others to join in.

People may also like to spark interest at their workplace or school, to take part in the Business Clean Up Day on Tuesday 1 March or the Schools Clean Up Day on Friday 4 March.

Volunteering can contribute to good mental health, by giving people an opportunity to connect with others in their network and beyond, and feel they are giving something back to their communities.

If you’d like to get involved, visit www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au or get in touch with the Clean Up Australia team by emailing youth@cleanup.com.au or calling (02) 8197 3422.
