Become a speaker

beyondblue receives hundreds of speaker requests each year from organisations, schools, universities and community groups. We are contacted by a range of people who have been touched by anxiety and depression and want to help raise awareness.
The stories beyondblue speakers share are varied, as everyone’s experience is different, however they all revolve around the theme of hope, recovery and resilience.

Become a speaker

beyondblue matches individual speakers to appropriate events in their local community or surrounding area. Sharing your experience of anxiety and depression with others is one of the most effective ways to reduce stigma and encourage people to take action. It’s also a really rewarding experience knowing that you are helping change how the community view anxiety and depression.

We aren't currently recruiting for new speakers, but please check this page regularly. If you'd like to be involved in the meantime, you could think about joining blueVoices, our online community and reference group.

blueVoices is open to anyone in Australia with direct experience of depression, anxiety and related disorders and their supporters, family members and friends.

Our blueVoices crew helps us by:

  • sharing stories for use in beyondblue's campaigns, information materials or projects
  • providing feedback on information resources, position statements or campaign materials participating in committees and advisory groups
  • taking part in research projects
  • sharing personal experiences through the media.
