beyondblue National Youth Week 2010 events
Victoria
beyondblue has partnered with the Victorian Office for Youth for the fourth year to support 25 grants for local events promoting the Youthbeyondblue key messages of Look, Listen, Talk, Seek Help Together! All events have been developed by young people partnered with community organisations. We are also providing Youthbeyondblue resources to all 77 National Youth Week events in Victoria.
Northern Territory
beyondblue, in partnership with the Northern Territory Office of Youth Affairs, is again supporting National Youth Week opening and closing ceremonies across the Northern Territory, including in the remote locations. Eight celebrations will promote the Youthbeyondblue key messages of Look, Listen, Talk, and Seek Help Together! Youthbeyondblue resources have been distributed to an additional 32 funded events, and at least an additional 30 registered events to date.
Western Australia
beyondblue is supporting Western Australia Music (WAM) and the Office for Youth to create a DVD and CD featuring some of Australia’s biggest music acts talking about their mental health. The DVD also features an interview with beyondblue Ambassador Mark Gable, lead singer of legendary Australian band The Choirboys. The launch of the project will include a huge free live event headlined by popular rock band British India.
Tasmania
beyondblue, in partnership with the Tasmanian Government, are proudly supporting a range of National Youth Week events created by local youth advisory communities in the north, north-west and south of the state. Other registered events will also be receiving Youthbeyondblue resources.
Australian Capital Territory
beyondblue is supporting three events in the ACT during National Youth Week in partnership with the ACT Office for Children Youth and Family Support. These events include a Young Carer’s Day, a massive Youth Expo, and an Indigenous Hip Hop Tour to the remote ports of Wreck and Jervis Bay.
Youthbeyondblue resources will also be distributed to the range of funded and registered NYW events in the ACT, of which there are around 20 so far.
Queensland
beyondblue have partnered with the Queensland Office for Youth to run a young filmmakers project with a focus on Youthbeyondblue key messages, and are supporting the CREATE foundation to run a Carers Program with a focus on positive mental health and resilience building. beyondblue are also proud to support 12 events in Youth Justice and Youth Detention Centres across Queensland.
In addition, another 30 events will be receiving Youthbeyondblue resources.
New South Wales
beyondblue have partnered with the New South Wales Commission for Children and Young People to again support Indigenous Hip Hop Projects attendance at the Royal Easter Show, and are supporting sixteen local mental health grants. These grants support young people and their communities to hold events. In addition, Youthbeyondblue resources will be distributed to over 120 local councils across NSW.
South Australia
beyondblue is proud to support the South Australia Office for Youth by supporting the National Youth Week launch celebration, and nine local events across South Australia. Youthbeyondblue resources are also being sent to 59 local councils across the state and a range of other registered events.
National
beyondblue are again a national partner of National Youth Week, supporting two telecast national launches: one in Parramatta , NSW and one in Goolwa, SA.
beyondblue is also proudly supporting the national WriteIT writing competition, with the theme of Look, Listen, Talk, Seek Help Together!
