Today is the last day of National Youth Week 2012 (13 – 22 April). We hope you all had a chance to either attend or organise an event or there is still time to enter one of the many competitions.
Youthbeyondblue wants to give a massive shout out to everyone who contributed to the running of NYW events. So much work went into all the events this year from planning to designing and disseminating promotional material, finding venues and entertainment, right through to cleaning up at the end of the event! No effort was too small and I hope you all agree it was worth it!!
National Youth Week is all about celebrating the achievements of young people and acknowledging how young people contribute to the community. Youthbeyondblue is a proud to supporter of this event.
National Youth Week is a great opportunity to raise awareness of depression and anxiety and break down some of the stigma that exists around getting help. We want to remind you all to keep an eye on your mates and Look for signs of anxiety and depression, Listen to your friends’ experiences, Talk about what’s going on and Seek Help together! Remember there is always help available, whether it’s for you, a friend or family member – you can talk to your GP, visit a headspace centre or www.headspace.org.au, or call Kids Help Line 1800 55 1800 or the beyondblue info line 1300 22 46 36.
We hope you had a fantastic National Youth Week!
